As the winter weather begins to wind down, we’re finally able to start looking forward to spring. To get us ready for the warmer weather — and to keep your vehicle running as smoothly as possible — we thought we’d share some spring car care tips.
Give your car a
Deep cleans don’t only have to occur in your home – you should
also clean your car inside and out when the weather gets warmer. Give it a good
exterior wash and wax, then follow that up by tidying your cabin. Throw out any
trash that you might have collected in the winter and vacuum to pick up any
salt or dirt that found its way into your vehicle.
Check your tires
Warmer weather means that your tire pressure can fluctuate,
increasing after the cold winter – especially if you filled your tires during
the winter to compensate for lower pressure readings. As the roads get slicker,
too, it’s important to make sure your tires are wearing properly and get them
rotated if you haven’t recently.
Change your wiper
Spring showers mean your windshield wipers need to be in
good working order. Make sure your wipers don’t have any cracks or wear and, if
they do, go ahead and replace them with new ones.
If your car needs further care, or if you’d rather just let someone else take care of it, don’t hesitate to schedule a service appointment at Sunny King Honda. We’ll make sure your car is ready for the warmer weather!
Honda has finished 2018 with a bang. The Japanese carmaker recently posted its 2018 years sales highlights, and it has finished the year with some impressive improvements.
Honda truck sales has specifically seen an improvement. This
segment set both new monthly sales records and annual records, making 2018 the
fourth year in a row of record light-truck sales. The CR-V led the way with
42,079 units sold in December, which marks a 13.8% sales gain. The Pilot set
its own new annual record, beating its previous record by over 7,000 units.
Honda’s three-row SUV was also considered the fastest growing SUV in its
segment for 2018.
“In 2018, we took advantage of the continued consumer shift
toward light trucks, contributing to another record year for our Honda and
Acura light-truck businesses,” said Henio Arcangeli Jr., senior vice president
of the American Honda Automobile Division.
Along with these record truck sales, the Accord increased
its year-over-year December sales by 29.4% with a total of 28,627 sales. This
midsize sedan had the highest transaction prices in the midsize segment, while
the Civic compact car managed to hold on to its crown as the best-selling
retail compact car in America for the ninth consecutive year.
Honda trucks and SUVs are among the most respected in the industry. Check out the CR-V, Ridgeline and the others at Sunny King Honda to see what they’re all about.
The SUV segment is becoming more popular than ever. Honda in particular has boasted significant sales growth in this region, highlighted by more than 40% growth in Pilot sales and the battle by the CR-V to be the #1 SUV in America. Because of this, the brand is debuting a new Honda SUV marketing campaign.
Throughout this campaign, Honda will work to highlight how its SUV lineup will help meet the need of all consumers. It will also promote the carmaker’s recent “Best SUV Brand for 2018” accolade it received from U.S. News & World Report.
“We set out to create a campaign that showcases the breadth
of the Honda SUV family while showing how each vehicle is tailored to meet the
unique needs of our customers,” said Susie Rossick, assistant vice president of
Honda Marketing. “Honda SUV customers are showing significant sales growth in
all buyer segments, which is why now is the right time to tout our strong and
flexible SUV lineup across all audiences.”
The campaign itself will have two new multicultural spots
that will incorporate insights around the brand’s Hispanic and African-American
buyers; it will also shine the spotlight on the HR-V, CR-V, and Pilot models —
and how there is a Honda SUV for every customer need.
If Honda’s new SUV marketing campaign drives you to shop for a new SUV, make sure to swing by Sunny King Honda. Our knowledgeable staff will be more than happy to assist you!
A car needs many different fluids of varying viscosities to operate, but few fluids are as important as oil. Check out why changing the oil is important to maximizing your vehicle’s lifespan.
Dozens of moving parts make up a car’s engine. Many of these
parts move at high speeds and can damage other parts if they aren’t properly
lubricated. Owners can consult the owner’s manual or a dealership service
technician to determine that the proper oil is used to lubricate the engine.
Thanks to so many parts moving at high speeds, the engine
heats up rather quickly. As oil moves through the engine, it takes some of that
excess heat along with it, effectively cooling the engine. Routine oil changes
allow the oil to cool the engine more efficiently.
To put it simply, routine oil changes protect the engine. Old
oil can’t cool, lubricate, and protect the engine as well as fresh oil. Drivers
who forego routine oil changes could see a shorter engine lifespan in their
A poorly lubricated engine won’t make the most of every drop
of fuel. Routine oil changes can improve fuel economy by up to two percent.
That may not seem like much, but it adds up over time. Consider improved fuel
economy an added bonus to a properly maintained, cooled, and protected engine.
If you need an oil change, or are not sure whether you need an oil change, visit us at Sunny King Honda. We’ll make sure your car is in tip-top shape for its next trip.
The NHTSA and IIHS are highly respected in the auto industry
for their extensive crash test ratings. The NHTSA’s website displays any
recalls, investigations, and complaints about a vehicle, which the 2019 Insight

“Trunk or treat” events are quickly gaining attention over traditional trick or treating. If you’re attending one of these events soon, here are some tips to help your decorate your Honda for these family-friendly community gatherings.
This idea is both creative and adds a level of interactivity to your car. Fill the trunk of your Honda with various dolls, stuffed animals, toys, and other knick-knacks and trinkets, then have trick-or-treaters play I Spy!
Decorate your car with pictures of dinosaurs and exotic trees, then set out a small, makeshift sandbox filled with candy that kids have to dig out.
X marks the spot! Fill your trunk with fake gold coins and plastic bead jewelry, as well as a couple skeletons for good measure, as well as a treasure chest full of candy. Bonus points if you dress up as a pirate, too.
Coffee Shop Drive-Thru
Setting this up requires a bit of additional supplies, like a cardboard cut-out drive-thru window. Dress up like a barista and lean out the “window” to give trick-or-treaters exactly what they ordered.
For a low-effort decoration, just put two “slices” of bread sticking out the top of your vehicle to make your Honda look like a toaster.
Of course, to trunk or treat with the neighborhood, you’ll need a car. Check out our selection at Sunny King Honda today.
At Sunny King Honda, we’re always happy to highlight remarkable events in our community, but there’s one upcoming shin-dig that we’re particularly excited to share with you: The Wizard of Oz the musical is coming to Oxford Performing Arts Center!
Head to Oxford Performing Arts Center at 7:00 PM on October 18th for this one-night-only performance. This show is just a stop on the Broadway cast’s national tour, so now’s your only chance to enjoy a first-class musical performance without travelling all the way to The Big Apple.
The musical is developed from the timelessly famous 1939 film. Anyone who loves the movie will adore this opportunity to hear their favorite songs performed live and on stage.
Do you want to turn the show into a romantic evening for you and your significant other? Grab dinner at Garfrerick’s Café beforehand. In the mood for something more casual? Then we casually suggest stopping into Cheaha Brewing Company in Anniston for a bite and a brew. Or are you bringing the whole family along? Fill up at Brad’s Bar-B-Que before heading somewhere over the rainbow.
Make October 18th your night to show your Oxford community and its local businesses some love before enjoying the talents of those fine performers from New York. Our Sunny King Honda community will be doing the same!
Get out of the summer heat and enjoy the water in a different way by visiting the Georgia Aquarium, a nonprofit focused on the effort of promoting aquatic biodiversity. The aquarium is filled with over 10 million gallons of water and various forms of sea life.

There is no denying that the future of the automotive industry will rely more heavily on electricity and battery power. Current battery systems are getting smaller and offering more electric driving range. However, to help advance this technology even further, Honda and GM have joined forces. This will help both companies accelerate their respective plans for all-electric vehicles.
“In addition to our ongoing joint development and production of fuel cells, this battery component collaboration will enable us to take a new step toward the realization of a sustainable society,” said Takashi Sekiguchi, Chief Officer for Automobile Operations and Managing Officer of Honda.
As part of this agreement, the two companies will collaborate on GM’s next generation battery system with Honda sourcing the battery modules from GM. Each company will be able to use the technology in the distinct vehicles. With a larger, global production scale, both automakers will be able to provide better overall value to customers.
This is not the first time Honda and GM have worked together. They previously formed the first manufacturing joint venture for an advanced hydrogen fuel cell system. This collaboration should produce a new hydrogen system by 2020 that is more affordable and efficient.
Here at Sunny King Honda, we are excited to see what innovation Honda will introduce next.
Honda has made a major investment in its Indiana and Ohio production facilities. Part of that investment includes launching the production of the all-new 2019 Honda Insight in Indiana. The Honda Insight is powered by a two-motor hybrid powertrain that generates 151 horsepower and 197 lb-ft of torque.
What & Where
A $61.5 million investment aims to add to Honda’s electrified vehicle portfolio. The Honda Insight will be produced exclusively at the Greensburg, Indiana production facility. Three Ohio facilities will produce powertrain parts that make the Insight into an efficient sedan drivers are sure to love.
$32.5 million of the investment is going towards producing the all-new Honda Insight. A new 19,200-sq ft. building expansion will be home to assembly of the Insight’s front end. Other processes directed to the 2019 Insight include high-voltage wiring and the power control system.
The 2019 Honda Insight will land in dealership showrooms this summer. It will slot between the Civic and Accord with seating for five. The Honda Sensing® safety suite comes standard on all models. The Insight marks the fifth electrified Honda model launched in the past 18 months.
With the launch of the Honda Insight, the manufacturer is on track to achieve its goal of electrified vehicles making up more than half of its sales by 2030. Here at Sunny King Honda, we’re excited to see what Honda’s electrified future will bring to the industry.
