“Trunk or treat” events are quickly gaining attention over traditional trick or treating. If you’re attending one of these events soon, here are some tips to help your decorate your Honda for these family-friendly community gatherings.
This idea is both creative and adds a level of interactivity to your car. Fill the trunk of your Honda with various dolls, stuffed animals, toys, and other knick-knacks and trinkets, then have trick-or-treaters play I Spy!
Decorate your car with pictures of dinosaurs and exotic trees, then set out a small, makeshift sandbox filled with candy that kids have to dig out.
X marks the spot! Fill your trunk with fake gold coins and plastic bead jewelry, as well as a couple skeletons for good measure, as well as a treasure chest full of candy. Bonus points if you dress up as a pirate, too.
Coffee Shop Drive-Thru
Setting this up requires a bit of additional supplies, like a cardboard cut-out drive-thru window. Dress up like a barista and lean out the “window” to give trick-or-treaters exactly what they ordered.
For a low-effort decoration, just put two “slices” of bread sticking out the top of your vehicle to make your Honda look like a toaster.
Of course, to trunk or treat with the neighborhood, you’ll need a car. Check out our selection at Sunny King Honda today.
At Sunny King Honda, we’re always happy to highlight remarkable events in our community, but there’s one upcoming shin-dig that we’re particularly excited to share with you: The Wizard of Oz the musical is coming to Oxford Performing Arts Center!
Head to Oxford Performing Arts Center at 7:00 PM on October 18th for this one-night-only performance. This show is just a stop on the Broadway cast’s national tour, so now’s your only chance to enjoy a first-class musical performance without travelling all the way to The Big Apple.
The musical is developed from the timelessly famous 1939 film. Anyone who loves the movie will adore this opportunity to hear their favorite songs performed live and on stage.
Do you want to turn the show into a romantic evening for you and your significant other? Grab dinner at Garfrerick’s Café beforehand. In the mood for something more casual? Then we casually suggest stopping into Cheaha Brewing Company in Anniston for a bite and a brew. Or are you bringing the whole family along? Fill up at Brad’s Bar-B-Que before heading somewhere over the rainbow.
Make October 18th your night to show your Oxford community and its local businesses some love before enjoying the talents of those fine performers from New York. Our Sunny King Honda community will be doing the same!

There is no denying that the future of the automotive industry will rely more heavily on electricity and battery power. Current battery systems are getting smaller and offering more electric driving range. However, to help advance this technology even further, Honda and GM have joined forces. This will help both companies accelerate their respective plans for all-electric vehicles.
“In addition to our ongoing joint development and production of fuel cells, this battery component collaboration will enable us to take a new step toward the realization of a sustainable society,” said Takashi Sekiguchi, Chief Officer for Automobile Operations and Managing Officer of Honda.
As part of this agreement, the two companies will collaborate on GM’s next generation battery system with Honda sourcing the battery modules from GM. Each company will be able to use the technology in the distinct vehicles. With a larger, global production scale, both automakers will be able to provide better overall value to customers.
This is not the first time Honda and GM have worked together. They previously formed the first manufacturing joint venture for an advanced hydrogen fuel cell system. This collaboration should produce a new hydrogen system by 2020 that is more affordable and efficient.
Here at Sunny King Honda, we are excited to see what innovation Honda will introduce next.

The 2019 Honda Insight will land in dealership showrooms this summer. It will slot between the Civic and Accord with seating for five. The Honda Sensing® safety suite comes standard on all models. The Insight marks the fifth electrified Honda model launched in the past 18 months.

Honda has reached an important milestone in the journey to make veicles in its lineup safer and smarter than ever before. The Honda Sensing ® technology, which will be standard across all Honda vehicles by the year 2022, can now be found in over one million vehicles sold in the United States. Honda Sensing ® was also honored by a study from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, which demonstrated the technology’s effectiveness.
How Many Involved
69 percent of 2018 model-year vehicles sold by Honda have Honda Sensing ® technology installed on them, indicating that the technology’s application has more than doubled since 2016. Additionally, the study from the IIHS indicated that not only are fewer people injured in vehicles equipped with Honda Sensing ® , but the injuries are less severe and insurance claims less expensive. Honda also recently announced plans to have automatic emergency braking installed on 95% of vehicles by 2020, two years ahead of the legal requirement.
Honda Sensing ® technology is proven to reduce risk of injury and damage in collisions, as well as playing a role in reducing the number of collisions on the road in the first place. Honda’s goals point to a safer and more innovative future in the auto industry.

There are plenty of ways to take advantage of the beautiful outdoors around you and do so in an eco-friendly and mindful way. Here are the top 5 activities to do this spring with your family.
Go camping – Take a break from modern conveniences and technology and set up camp in the great outdoors with your family. You don’t have to totally go without comforts, so pack some sleeping bags, board games, tasty food, and eco-friendly bug repellant.
Soak in the sun at the beach – Pile everyone into the car with towels, sunscreen, snacks, and beach toys for a fun day out in the sun.
Go kayaking or canoeing – Head to a local lake or waterway with your kayak or canoe and get in some fun, healthy exercise. Don’t forget to have you and your family wear life jackets while out on the water.
Take a bike ride – More likely than not, there are some outdoor trails in the area that you haven’t explored and are perfect for a family bike ride. Pack some snacks and water and snap on your helmet for a bike ride that’s as leisurely or intense as you want it to be.
Start a garden – Spring is the season of planting, so consider starting a garden that you and your family can enjoy. You can plant some vegetables and herbs to use in your kitchen, or simply create a beautiful flower garden that you can admire for years to come.

Every year, since 1983, MotorWeek has presented its Drivers’ Choice Awards. These awards are handed out to the best vehicle from each segment depending on what you—the drivers—really want from a car. According to their website, this includes “price, practicality, performance and fuel efficiency.” This year’s awards made several worthy mentions of vehicles that we have here at Sunny King Honda.
Best Minivan – Honda Odyssey
The 2018 Honda Odyssey was all-new for this model year, which is one of the reasons it was chosen by MotorWeek as their winner in this category. New comfort, new safety, new technology, and new family-oriented features all make this an excellent family hauler.
Best Small Car – Honda Civic
Thanks to its consistent reliability and intelligent design, the Honda Civic wins the Best Small Car award for the third year in a row. That’s, in part, is thanks to versatile variants including the Civic Si and the Type R Hatchback.
Best Family Sedan – Honda Accord
It turns out that the Honda Odyssey isn’t the only top-rated family hauler in the Honda lineup. The mid-size Honda Accord offers plenty of luxurious features, advanced technology and safety, and an efficient performance for a sedan that can’t help but stand out.
