If you love the exhilarating rush of a powerful engine, you’ll love the Honda Civic Type R. It has all the features of a Honda Civic that you’d want while giving you that extra thrill that racecar enthusiasts love.

The Type R is special. Why? Because it’s the very first production Honda Civic Type R in the United States. That means it’s officially hitting American streets for the first time ever. To give back, Honda donated the very first Type R to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation so that they could auction it off.

You can get the Type R for yourself without bidding, though. And you won’t regret it. The Type R’s engineering lets you handle roads like a pro with features like limited-slip differential and a wide wheelbase for more control. All of these intelligent engineering features help this Type R take tight turns and corners smoothly.

The Type R’s turbocharged engine delivers 306 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful street-legal cars that Honda has put on the road. Even with all that power, the Type R still sports efficiency.

Honda Creates a Special Edition Sonic the Hedgehog Honda Civic

Ever since he has made his debut in 1991, Sonic the Hedgehog has been regarded as the fastest icon in the video game industry. Similarly, since it has debuted, the Honda Civic has earned a reputation as one of the sportiest affordable sedans in the automotive world. Therefore, it only makes sense for these two icons to come together in a big way.

According to a Honda press release, Honda has created a Special Edition Sonic the Hedgehog Honda Civic, which made its debut earlier this summer at Sand Diego Comic Con during the 25th Anniversary Sonic the Hedgehog celebration!

A modified 2016 Honda Civic, this special edition vehicle shares the same color scheme as the famous video game character. Gold trimming has also been added to the Civic vehicle in order to represent the golden rings that Sonic is always chasing after.

“What better way to showcase the incredibly sporty performance capability of the 10th generation Civic than by pairing it with gaming industry’s ultimate athlete – Sonic the Hedgehog,” said James Jenkins, Public Relations Manager for the Honda Division.

When you need a vehicle to celebrate 25 years of high-speed video game velocity, you need a sporty car. Fortunately, the Honda Civic is the perfect vehicle to celebrate Sonic’s momentous occasion!

Honda Safety Features Put Civic and Pilot on “10 Best Family Cars” List

2016 Honda Civic named one of 10 Best Family Cars

Honda models are designed to be family friendly, one of the many reasons the Civic and Pilot recently earned awards for their family-oriented design. The latest comes from Parents Magazine and Edmunds.com, which recognized the Civic and Pilot in their list of the 10 Best Family Cars.

According to Honda, the Civic’s safety features were the major reason for the award. These include technologies like the Honda Sensing™ suite with features like automatic emergency braking. The Civic was also given a 5-Star Overall Rating in safety from both the NCAP and the NHTSA, and it was named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS.

The 2016 Pilot is just as impressive, offering dynamic handling and a refreshed exterior design. It also comes with the same Honda Sensing technologies, Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™), and a standard multi-angle rearview camera. Named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS and awarded a 5-star rating from the NHTSA, the Pilot is incredibly safe.

It’s no wonder both the Pilot and Civic were included on the list of the 10 Best Family Cars by Edmunds and Parents Magazine. Thanks to their unparalleled safety, you get added peace of mind when you drive a Honda.

Honda Introduces the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype

The Honda Civic is already one of the most beloved compact cars on the road today. Whether drivers choose the sedan model of the Civic or the coupe, they are sure to find something to love behind the wheel of the signature Honda vehicle. In fact, there only seemed to be one aspect that the Honda Civic was missing: a hatchback model. Well, that is not the case anymore.

In March, Honda introduced the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback prototype.

The new hatchback model of the Honda Civic takes everything drivers love about the current Honda Civic sedan and translates it into a larger and more practical model.

“We knew that we needed to create a striking and stand-out exterior design that challenged conventional European compact styling while staying true to the original Civic’s core values,” said Daisuke Tsutamori, chief exterior stylist for the 2017 Civic Hatchback Prototype. “This vehicle represents a marriage of distinctive and sporty design, rewarding driving dynamics and versatile practicality.”

Combining a sporty performance with practicality is what Honda does best, and the best example of this has got to be the brand new 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback.

Four Honda Models named IIHS Top Safety Pick+

The CR-V is one of Honda’s Top Safety Pick+

There are plenty of ways to measure how safe a car is. The sheer amount of safety features in some cars is staggering, while others seem to be lacking. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety conducts safety tests on top models every year. Year after year, Honda performs particularly well, proving safety is a top priority on the road.

This year, four Honda vehicles made the Top Safety Pick+ list, the highest safety rating given by the IIHS. Testing areas include small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints and seats.

In the mid-size car segment, both the two-door and four-door Honda Accord held strong, earning top marks in every category, including front crash prevention. Available with the Honda Sensing Package and Collision Mitigation Braking System, the Accord is a top model in its segment for another year.

In the small car category, the Honda Civic pulled the same scores as its older sibling. As for family vehicles, the Honda CR-V crossover earned the top rating as well.

Although it wasn’t a Top Safety Pick+, we can’t forget the Honda Odyssey minivan, which fell just short of the top score. Coming in with a Top Safety Pick rating, the Odyssey earned top scores in all but front crash prevention.

2016 Honda Civic Named North American Car of the Year

The 2016 Honda Civic is the North American car of the year

At car shows all around the world, automakers and vehicles are given awards. But, here in the United States, one of the most prestigious awards is the North American Car of the Year award given out at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. At this year’s show, the all-new 2016 Honda Civic earned this coveted honor.

“The all-new Civic was developed and is built in North America, making this North American Car of the Year win even sweeter,” said Jeff Conrad, Honda Division senior vice president and general manager, in a statement. “Civic is a cornerstone of the Honda lineup, and we’re delighted that the automotive press has recognized the new levels of styling, performance, advanced technology, safety and value that characterize the new Civic.”

This is the second time the Civic has won this award. The last time was in 2006 when it shared the stage with the 2006 Honda Ridgeline, which won the North American Truck of the Year award that year.

The all-new Civic was redesigned from the ground up with a new vehicle architecture that makes it sporty, sophisticated, more spacious, and more high-tech. And, with new engine options and safety tech, buyers have more choices than ever before.
