Honda has reached an important milestone in the journey to make veicles in its lineup safer and smarter than ever before. The Honda Sensing ® technology, which will be standard across all Honda vehicles by the year 2022, can now be found in over one million vehicles sold in the United States. Honda Sensing ® was also honored by a study from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, which demonstrated the technology’s effectiveness.
How Many Involved
69 percent of 2018 model-year vehicles sold by Honda have Honda Sensing ® technology installed on them, indicating that the technology’s application has more than doubled since 2016. Additionally, the study from the IIHS indicated that not only are fewer people injured in vehicles equipped with Honda Sensing ® , but the injuries are less severe and insurance claims less expensive. Honda also recently announced plans to have automatic emergency braking installed on 95% of vehicles by 2020, two years ahead of the legal requirement.
Honda Sensing ® technology is proven to reduce risk of injury and damage in collisions, as well as playing a role in reducing the number of collisions on the road in the first place. Honda’s goals point to a safer and more innovative future in the auto industry.

For the 2018 model year, the popular Honda Accord is being redesigned. This next-generation model will offer buyers a more modern car with some great updates. One notable change is that Honda will no longer offer an Accord coupe model.
Buyers will get to choose from two turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a hybrid powertrain. In addition, there are three transmission options: manual, continuously variable transmission (CVT), or automatic. Honda will officially release efficiency information closer to the fall; however, we expect to see some gains in fuel economy, based on these updates.
Safety-wise, the Accord is receiving another big update. Honda says nearly 55 percent of the Accord’s structure will be made from high-strength steel to help withstand the forces of an accident. Additionally, every model will come standard with HondaSensing technology. This technology includes a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, a forward collision warning system with automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition technology, and more.
Inside, drivers will find an 8-inch Display Audio touchscreen system that works in a similar way to a smartphone, making it even more user-friendly.
