Whether you’re a new driver or veteran driver, it’s always important to review how to drive in winter weather. Road conditions can change suddenly, and it’s easy to lose focus, especially if the road seems clear. Take these winter driving tips from us here at Sunny King Honda. You’ll be glad you did!
- Slow Down! It takes longer to stop in winter, especially if the roads are covered with ice or snow. Keep a safe distance (seven to 10 car lengths, if possible) and stay aware of your surroundings. You never know when the person in front of you will hit the brakes.
- Follow Plows. While you may not want to get smacked with snow, it’s important not to pass snow plows. Considering the plow itself extends about 10 feet on either side of the truck, odds are you may not be able to pass anyway. The road behind the plow is always better than the road in front. Take your time and let the plow take care of business.
- Watch the Weather. Knowledge is power so knowing what to expect when you walk out the door every morning is the best weapon you have. Winter weather can change suddenly so keeping up to date will keep you on the road (or off of it) and safe!
